About
Pluck is an app created to combat mental health problems that disproportionately affect middle school students, since children at that stage of their lives are vulnerable to mental illness and simultaneously struggle to talk about their problems. Pluck helps students by destigmatizing mental health and reminding them that they are not alone.

This project began as a group assignment with Cat Palacios and Regi Obenza, in which the student prototype was developed. Afterwards, the project was rebranded and expanded as a solo endeavor.
This app is an all-in-one mental wellness tool for middle schoolers. It provides students with a mood tracker, a journal, and other activities that earn them badges to encourage the continued use of the app. Additionally, Pluck connects students with their school, allowing students to anonymously see their classmates' emotions and to send message requests to their school counselor.

The gardening aesthetics of the app work as a metaphor for maintaining a healthy state of mind. If weeds overtake the flowers, they will wilt, but if the weeds are plucked, then the flowers will flourish.

Pluck is designed to be compliant with ethical and privacy guidelines that have been set by both the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
